An Air Purifier Used for NASA, Tailored to Your Industry

Air Purifier Used for NASA tailored to your industry

Your products, your samples, your employees, and even you yourself deserve protection, right? But unprocessed air is full of threats, like bacteria, viruses, VOCs, fungus, and spores. A carbon air filter alone isn’t enough to protect the air in controlled spaces like the ones you try to maintain in your facility.

Something more powerful will do the trick. On the space station, for example, they use a system that scrubs the air clean without producing emissions back into the delicate atmosphere they maintain onboard. But how can you get the same air purifier technology NASA uses? It’s all available – tailored to your industry’s specific needs – with air sanitation systems from Airocide.

This air purification technology scrubs the air of volatile organic compounds, or VOCs. Astronauts were growing plants on the space station, but a VOC called ethylene was building up and accelerating spoilage in their growing room. The closed environment meant VOC-contaminated air couldn’t be vented away. But, the purification solution needed to produce zero emissions so astronauts weren’t breathing in toxic ozone.

A technology called photocatalytic oxidation, or PCO, emerged as the solution. PCO destroyed the ethylene gas, and even other organic threats in the air as well. The purifiers scrubbed pollen, viruses, and bacteria from the air too – and produced no dangerous emissions. At Airocidie, we took exactly that PCO technology and adapted it for use here on earth – providing air purification that was perfect for food testing, transport, preservation, and preparation.

In cold storage & repacking, foodservice, labs & clean rooms, and dozens of other food service and processing industries, clean air is paramount – for reasons very similar to those of the astronauts on the space station. VOCs like ethylene spoil foods faster, but other contaminants like bacteria interfere with production as well.

And production isn’t one-size-fits-all either – that’s why we’ve developed a wide variety of units that fit facilities of all sizes. From the largest production lines, to clean rooms, to back offices – there’s an Airocide unit that will protect your products and employees.
