Approximately half of the Feeding America Food Banks, located in the U.S., are utilizing our Airocide air purification technology in their food storage facilities. These food banks have seen up to five more days of extended shelf life in their donated products. What does this mean? It means more food for local communities and better food to serve the hungry.
More Food, Less Hungry
Not only does our Technology Developed for Nasa help commercial cold storage facilities remove airborne threats, but our powerful air purification helps to extend the life of donated food at community food banks across the nation. Because food banks cannot anticipate what state the food they receive will be in, their storage facilities need to keep food fresh as long as possible.
A large portion of food banks in the US have implemented our Airocide air sanitation systems. Many of them noticed a significant increase in the shelf life of their donated products. With more time to store and serve the food, these food banks can help feed more hungry Americans. Now, they can serve higher quality AND quantities of food.
Serving Safe Food
With the variety of food donated to food banks, it can be a difficult task to keep produce separated. When produce is donated, on average, it is near the end of its natural life. Produce at this stage creates higher levels of ethylene gas. Ethylene gas is naturally occurring, but it causes produce to rapidly ripen and spoil. Food banks are highly susceptible to ethylene gas reactions with multiple produce items being mature.
Ethylene gas is odorless, but can aggressively cause fresh produce to rot. Our commercial air purification units installed in food bank storage facilities serve to eliminate ethylene gas. As they control produce maturity levels and extend the shelf life of donated produce. This helps food banks continue to serve fresh and healthy food.

If we were to hold tomatoes as long as two weeks, they would liquefy.
